Mora Gabby by alaMood
Dec 4th, 2009 by Gabby Panacek

Jori Watler’s latest release, Mora Gabby, is exactly my style.  Truth be told, I’m hard-pressed to find a single piece from alaMood that I don’t fall in love with immediately.  But this one…this one is so versatile, and the textures are so spot-on, it is definitely my favorite.
Mora Gabby
With stones of amber and tigers eye, the Mora Gabby set is comprised of 3 pieces, each with dual attachment points.  There is the necklace and ring, both of which I’m wearing in these photos, and a lovely, chunky cuff bracelet.  You can find all of the pieces at alaMood on Fusion.

I’m also wearing one of Truth’s latest hair releases, Eve in Coffee, Sienna skin in Tinsel by Exodi and the Tuli dress by Elate in Chocolate.  Polaroid frames created in-world with the FilterCam HUD by MechanizedLife.

LOTD: 28 Nov 09

Today’s look is a mix of old and new pieces from some of my favorite tried-and-true designers. I wanted to put together something casual and very “me.” I love this new cardigan from Artilleri so much I had to have the fatpack, and while I was there, I cleaned out the entire display of glasses. I love mixing Antie’s retro style into my everyday wardrobe. The bracelets and necklace are new from alaMood. Jori has gone crazy this weekend, introducing a whopping 20 new pieces to the grid. I’m also wearing my favorite Bandara ring from alaMood, in a pink shade to pick up the glossy pink lips of Babyhoney Bailey’s new skin, MUA by Djinn & Tonic.

For the rest of the look, I added caLLie cLine’s giant Black Rock ring, a 50L Friday find, a must-have tank from MichaMi, my favorite jeans from Zaara, a great belt from Linc, and ankle boots from J’s. As usual, the hair is from Truth and my eyes are Exodi.

Look of the Day: Sn@tched!
Nov 23rd, 2009 by Gabby Panacek

Without question, Ivey Deschanel of Sn@tch does the very best goth-punk-rock-alternawear on the grid. Her designs are always edgy and daring. In today’s look, Cutie, Ivey has taken pieces that, in the hands of another, might be somewhat conservative, and infused them with some bad girl sass.
Sn@tch Cutie

Not only are all Sn@tch designs well made, with gorgeous textures and saturated colors, they are a fantastic bargain. Most of Ivey’s designs hover around the 200-300L mark for full outfits and often include a variety of layer and color options.

I’m also really loving the latest in her Plush line of skins. This is Babydoll in Tone 2 and the smokey black liner and pink eyeshadow, along with the bright pink lip is to-die-for cute!

I picked up the ultra hot, thigh high boots by J’s at the Footwear Expo which is going on now through December 6th. All monies raised during the expo will benefit the Toys For Tots program which provides holiday presents for children who might not otherwise receive a visit from Santa. I also picked up these poses from Olive Juice at the Expo. I <3 them!

As I write this, I’m actually sitting in the Fabulous Fashion studio listening to Angie Mornington interview Ivey. So, I had to include a photo from the show!
Angie and Ivey

For the rest of the look, I chose hair from Truth (yes, I am obsessed with Truth hair, I admit it), socks from League, and my very favorite nail polish from Nevermore Studios. I used the FilterCam HUD from MechanizedLife to create the polaroid frame, so no post-processing was required for these shots (WIN!).

Head over to Sn@tch and spend lots of Ls and hit her subscribo because Ivey announces LOADS of new releases every week! Then hit up my crack dealer, Truth, for super cute hair and MechanizedLife for THE must-have photo accessory!

Spooky Newness from MechanizedLife & LuNi Designs
Oct 28th, 2009 by Gabby Panacek

I need to start with a confession. I am addicted to gadgets. Any kind of gadget really, I love them all. I’m most fond, however, of those that make my Second Life easier. That’s where MechanizedLife comes in.  The FilterCam HUD makes taking stylized, in-world snapshots, well, a snap!

Happy Halloween

I only have to wear the HUD, mark the “Show HUD Objects in Snapshot” option in the snapshot window, select my filter and presto chango! I’ve added artistic detailing to my photo without ever opening an outside photo-editing program. There are dozens and dozens of preset, menu-driven filters to choose from, including the NEW Halloween-themed filters designed by the uber-talented Ryker Beck. In fact, ALL of the filters were designed by the Ryker.

Shrubbed FilterCam

In addition to the preset filters and masks that come ready-to-use in the FilterCam HUD, it is fully customizable.  You can create your own filters, add glow and other effects and even, when using a Restrained Life-compatible viewer, attach windlight settings to your presets.  You can find all of the information you’ll ever need to know about customizing FilterCam on the MechanizedLife website and Ryker even created a tutorial for making your own filters.  And the BEST PART…From now through Halloween, Codie has dropped the price of FilterCam to only L$500!  Find it in-world or on xstreetsl.

Shattered Glass FilterCam

While I was snapping away with the new Halloween filters, I decided to try out the new goodies from LuNi Designs. Nimil Blackflag and Lucas Gerard were kind enough to send over some review copies of their latest designs. I love the Wicked outfit, complete with witchy-green skin, which is inspired by the character Elphaba from the musical and book, Wicked.

Bloody Hands

For the Bloody Hands filter, I had to choose the Blight skin and La Ultima Fiesta dress. I’m a part-time zombie so the bloody, undead skin really appeals to me. And the tone-on-tone striping is spot on.  The little bit of flounce at the bodice and the lace at the hem give an almost sweet feel to an otherwise ghoulish ensemble.

Happy Halloween 2

Lucas and Nimil have also created a line of Day of the Dead skins, Muerto and Muerta that are fashioned after the traditional and elaborate face painting that accompanies many Day of the Dead celebrations, and inspired by the paintings of Sylvia Ji.  Here, I’m wearing Half the Sugar.

A quick, but important, note: Both Wicked and the Muerto and Muerta skins will only be available through Halloween, so hurry to LuNi Designs to purchase them before the weekend is out.

So, there you have it. A fantastic gadget from MechanizedLife to give all of your in-world snapshots a little extra oompf and some spooky-good new stuff from LuNi Designs.  Happy Halloween!

Disclaimer: For the sake of full disclosure, I should to point out that MechanizedLife is owned by my partner CodeBastard Redgrave. That said, I would still think this gadget is remarkably useful and a must-have for any SL photographer regardless its creator.

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!
May 22nd, 2009 by Gabby Panacek

I think I’ve finally climbed my way out from under the avalanche of Blogger Appreciation Week gifts, and all I can say is “Thank You!”

A thousand “thank you”s to the fashion designers in Second Life who put their creativity and talent out there for all of us to enjoy; who work tirelessly to make each release better than the one before; and who spend precious personal time responding to their clients, managing update groups, dealing with failed transactions, upload issues and all of the “stuff” that goes along with running a business in SL.  I know you don’t do it for the money, but for the love of creating and the joy that must come from sharing your creations with the grid.

So Thank You!  Not just for these gifts, but for everything you do, everyday, to satisfy the shopaholic and wannabe-fashionista in each and every one of us bloggers.

I wish I could share with you all of the gifts that you have so generously given in this post, but there are simply too many and I’m still opening and trying on much of it!  But here are a couple of looks that I put together using items that caught my eye right off the bat!  Don’t worry, I’ll get to all of it…its just going to take some time!

Oh! One quick note. The cool frame on the top photo was created with the MechanizedLife FilterCam HUD. Its a great little tool that lets you jazz up your in-world snapshots with frames, textures, designs and other effects. You can read more about it here. Also, there’s a little contest going on for you Photoshop/Gimp types who want to try your hand at creating your own custom masks for use with the FilterCam. Read more about the L$40,000 in cash and prizes that Codie is giving away!
