This should actually be dated 08.15.09, because I’ve been wearing it…changing out pieces and parts here and there…since I picked up the dress and poses during last week’s 50L Friday. I have a few pieces from Whippet & Buck, but this dress caught my eye almost as soon as I rezzed. Penny Dreadful Arcade is one of those new-to-me pose shops that I had to rush back to, a couple of times, to pick up the entirety of their pose collection.
For this look, I chose the Art Teacher hair by Tiny Bird and the long denim shorts from CoCo to turn the W&B dress into a more casual tunic. The Tiny Dancer necklace and Freshwater Pearl earrings from Sable Rose are two pieces that I wear constantly (I <3 Rosie Barthelmess). And I am positively enamored by Balderdash’s Rosary (I may not make it to Mass as often as my mother would like, but I still find the Rosary fascinating and collect them in RL). Saiyge Lotus’ version is beautifully designed and loaded with details. To round out the look, I added bangles from Zaara and, for a touch of whimsy, the Kitty Ring from Puarangi Designs, which has a texture change script and is just adorable! Just a couple of final details. The shoes are Tesla’s latest release, Klaks Clogs in Lemon. As usual her sculpting and texture work is absolutely flawless. With each new release, Tesla Miles blows me away with her mastery of the sculpted prim. I chose glasses from primOptic. Nibb Tardis uses standard prims and feature-packed menus to create realistic and customizable designs.
That’s all for now, happy shopping!

By now you I’m certain you’ve all heard that ETD has reopened with 2 brand new hairstyles and 2 new versions of previous styles. I’ve been changing them often and I have to say, I really love Elika’s new textures. It seems like braids and skinny headbands/wraps are one of the spring trends on the grid and Elika’s Chel is a beautifully executed example of that.
So, what else is new? Jori Watler of Pretties by JB has released a gorgeous pair of Short Stack boots, available in a wide range of colors. With the slouchy upper and the rounded toe, these are great for wearing with your favorite pair of jeans or a cute tunic for that slightly bohemian look. Speaking of boho, Jori has also just released some fantastic Boho Chic Mules, so run over there and pick up the entire Piggeh Pack of suede and leather, and the boots…how can you possibly pass them up?!? The top I’m wearing is part of a new release from Journey called Frills. My friend Java invited me to meet the designer, Journey McLaglin, last week and as I understand it, she has a new release every Wednesday and there’s usually some sort of free gift involved. I’ve already marked my calendar to investigate that further this week. (By the way, the skirt on this dress is really cute, I promise to blog it properly soon, I was just in the mood for jeans today.) Read the rest of this entry »
For the next five days, March 18th through March 22nd, five of Second Life’s most renowned and talented jewelry designers present for you a very special trunk show: The Armoire. Candy Cerveau of Eye Candy, Caliah Lyon of Muse, Violet Voltaire of Violet Voltaire, Kesseret Steeplechase of Kess Kreations, and Saiyge Lotus of Balderdash have each created living dioramas to showcase the mood and theme of their collections. These unique exhibits are hidden in a mystical labyrinth with a shopping pavilion nestled in its core.
So what makes this jewelry showcase different than any other? Its designed to be interactive. The jewelry will be displayed by live models positioned in each diorama and visitors are encouraged to join in the Journeyman’s Quest to collect gemstones that will lead them to spectacular qifts, including some limited edition items. Here’s a bit of information about the quest as it was shared with me:
You are a journeyman jeweler newly learning your trade. You have traveled to a magical labyrinth where you’ve heard you can perfect your skills with some of the finest jewelers in the land. You’ve been given a jewelry box to collect gems for your creations, and in the labyrinth, your task is to seek those magical gems. Collect six of each color to gain a Key of Knowledge that opens magical chests — do they hold the knowledge that you seek? Open the chests of silver and gold, and your quest for the Master’s exemplary jewelry is complete.
Take this magic carpet to the event site and begin your own quest. Keep reading for more information and photos of some of the designs that are featured. Read the rest of this entry »
