2011 Shoe Fair: LeLutka

The 2011 Shoe Fair is in full swing and there are hundreds of fantastic new styles to be had. I am, however, in a wedge mood of late so these new beauties from LeLutka caught my eye.

I love all the little details, like the tab on the side and the zipper detailing at the back and, as Gogo points out in her blog, the slightly distressed sole. These are the little things that bring SL fashions to life and add just the right amount of realism…

On the opposite end of the reality spectrum, the new Bloom dolls by Emma Gilmour of Surf Co. have made a huge splash! With their over-sized heads and tiny puckered lips, they are just too adorable for words and, for me, add just the touch of whimsy my Second Life has been lacking recently. Expect to see more of Gooby Bloom, as Turnip has renamed her, because I am having the best time dressing her up. Be sure to check out the Bloom Flickr Group and enter the Bloom Photo Contest!

Shoe Fly

The 2011 Shoe Fair opened to the public today and shoe fanatics all over the grid are scurrying about trying on all of the newest designs. Okay, so not so much scurrying as we all know that doing anything quickly at any kind of SL event is next to impossible, but I digress…

Tya Fallingbridge of Pixel Mode, not only created the four-sim Shoe Fair build (it is clean, simple and gorgeous, by the way) she also created Fae, the summery wrapped wedge I’m wearing here. I love the PM HUD that is included for matching skin tone and selecting nail colors as it is very easy to use. And there is a notecard included with RGB values for most skin brands, so getting the right tone is a snap! Each pair includes both light and dark wood options on the wedge heel and bead detail.

This May 14 – 27 will mark the 4th annual Shoe Fair in Second Life, where over 50 vendors will be displaying their latest footwear trends with partial proceeds to benefit Soles4Souls (soles4souls.org), a charitable organization that collects shoes and distributes them to people in need all over the world.

Last year, your support and participation led to L$1Million raised for Soles4Souls. This year, organizers hope that your contributions will enable the event to match or exceed the L$1Million mark, allowing people and communities in over 125 countries (including the Pakistan, Haiti, Nepal, Kenya, and Thailand) to gain access to much-needed footwear.

52 Weeks of Color Challenge: Sequins & Wool

I’ve always preferred muted, earthy tones of green, especially in winter, over the brighter, grassy or even pastel shades.

When I put this look together, I had only two thoughts in mind: “Sn@tch’s sequin skirts are gorgeous!” and “Why is it so cold in my house?” Lucky for me, Ivey Deschanel’s Confetti Mini looked great with WoE’s Ginger Sweater, which, in my opinion, is the very definition of cozy. Do sequins and wool go together? I vote yes.

I’m trying to convince myself that Maitreya’s new boots are not completely amazing because I have vowed to not buy any more fatpacks until my inventory is under 50K. I’m holding strong so far, but the more I wear them…well, lets just say I’m very likely going to lose this internal battle.

Natasha’s Got Moxie

LeLutka and Maitreya offered new releases this weekend and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on both! LeLutka‘s new Natasha skin is a bit softer than previous releases, but the body is still well defined. The lips are soft and supple, a bit like Lola, but the eyes are a bit more exotic, in a Nordic sort of way. There are four skin tones available and eight makeup options, each with a blonde hairbase.

I can’t say enough about the Maitreya Gold Moxies. They might just be the most adored shoe in my collection…and not just because they are incredibly well-made. These shoes are extra special as they were a gift from a dear plurk friend and my Secret Santa. Thank you, both of you, so very much. There are two packs available, basics and patents, and they come with both scrunched and over-the-knee sock options. You can bet I’ll be wearing these a lot!

Few things excite me more than new releases at Shiny Things. Fallingwater Cellardoor’s flawless execution combined with timeless shapes make the shoe addict in me very, very happy.

You Witch!

This didn’t start out as a halloween post. In fact, I’d planned to blog jewelry and shoes. For now, though, I’m going to blame Callie Cline for the change in plans…Just as I was about to take photos, she sent a group notice about a sale on her latest Swan Song dress. So I dressed quickly and tp’d over with no shoes, no AO, no facelight…I might as well have been naked. But just inside the door, I found this adorable broomstick…and here we are!

The outfit is from a new-to-me store called The Bunker, and they have a great selection of mens and womens goth and punk outfits, seperates and accessories. I’m wearing the Carved outfit. The texturing is well done, as you can see from the lacing on the corset, and the prices are exceedingly reasonable. I’m certain this outfit was under L$200.

I love the Wish hair from Katat0nik, for a couple of reasons actually. First, I love Katat0nik’s sense of humor and style and second, I love special-occasion items. I actually bough this hair to wear to my friend Nimil’s birthday party. The best part of Wish? It’s all scripted! Change the hair color, the size, the color of the stars, the ribbon, the lace, the bow…change it all…as often as you’d like!

But the shoes that inspired the original post could not be left out, because I simply can’t bear to take them off! Tesla Miles is a sculpted-prim genius and she has once again outdone herself with the new Hylda booties. The are available in 9 different colors including two snakeskin textures that are to die for gorgeous! From the inside zipper to the horse bit detail around the heel, every detail is well thought out and executed precisely. You will definitely want to add these to your fall and winter wardrobe!

My Personal Trainers

Call them what you will…trainers, sneakers, tennies, running shoes…I love them! And I’m especially a fan of good old Converse All Stars. (You just can’t beat a great pair of Chuck Taylors!) So, when I saw these sneakers on Sofia’s blog, I immediately jumped on Pyper with a torrent of ZOMG’s and Squeee’s. I knew right away that I had to have a pair…and they are every bit as fabulous as I had hoped.

To showcase the shoes, I decided to put together a totally casual and comfortable look, perfect for lounging at the house and trying to get a little work done.

I headed out to DeLa* where I picked up this great tank and scarf combo. I love shorts, so I was having trouble deciding between the cute and baggy black ones or the totally comfy cargo shorts. Which do you prefer?

Let’s talk about the shoes. These are from Urban Bomb Unit and are the PornStar Xtra Hi-Tops and they are Unisex. Every piece of the shoe is modifiable via a scripted menu. You can modify the size, wear them straight up or folded down, change any of the textures individually, change the laces, the lace rings…everything! I had so much fun mixing and matching textures and in then end, for this look, I settled on a very tame Falu Red and Burberry Plaid.

The attention to detail on these shoes is fantastic. Check out the scuff marks on the toe of the shoe…even a little handwritten “I heart my shoes” written in ballpoint pen. I mean, who didn’t write on their shoes in high school?!?

So, if you need to give your tootsies a break, slip your feet into these adorable shoes…and then have fun playing around with the options to make them uniquely yours.

Oh, and while putting this look together, I couldn’t help but stop in AnaLu and pick up some new poses…yeah, like all of them (gasp!). Ana Lutetia makes some great poses and even offers a free-to-use photo studio at her main store location.
