I’m sure by now you’ve seen lots of press about coldLogic, the new brand from Damien Fate, Zyrra Falcone and Janie Marlowe. In fact, I blogged about it here. Today is opening day and there are so many fantastic styles to choose from! I’ve been scouring the marketplace and picking up demos before heading to the store…and it is pretty much a given that I’ll buy out the place. I just can’t pick a favorite. The coldLogic team did send me a little sample pack, though, and this pretty little number caught my eye.

Run now to coldLogic and pick out your favorites. They have everything from dresses to jumpers, skirts, pants, shirts…you name it. This initial release is really well thought out and features something for everyone. I promise you won’t be disappointed. Happy shopping!

Hair Fair – Part 1

I adore Hair Fair. It is quite possibly the SL Event I most look forward to. This year, I had the privilege of working with the Hair Fair 2011 committee. What a fantastic group of residents! The hours they put in to make this event one of the most talked about, anticipated and blogged in SL is extraordinary. If you see a committee member wandering around the sims, please let them know how much you enjoy it! Now…On with the hair!

I have so many more styles to blog, but I’m still unboxing demos! I decided to start with some brands that are a mix of old and new-to-me, but who have created some really versatile styles for this year’s event. A Hairy Situation

Hair Fair is almost here! Are you ready? I’m not! I have a little inventory clean up to get through first. (Check out these tutorials from Anya Ohmai if you need some inventory organization pointers).

Some of you may be skin collectors. Or maybe your virtual closet is overflowing with shoes. Me? I’m a hair hoarder. Blonde, brunette, ginger. Updos, pigtails, long hair, short hair…it doesn’t matter. I love it all. With Hair Fair 2011 just around the corner, I’m spending my in-world time sorting, editing and packing away some older styles to make room for all of the fantastic new coifs created by the uber-talented designers participating in this two-week event benefiting Wigs for Kids. So, for the next few evenings, my Second Life looks something like this:

I did make sure to join the demo group, though. Hair Fair designers will start sending out demo wigs on July 1, so you can try them on and pick out your favorites in the comfort of your own home. Or get together with some of your friends and have a demo party! Shoe Fly

The 2011 Shoe Fair opened to the public today and shoe fanatics all over the grid are scurrying about trying on all of the newest designs. Okay, so not so much scurrying as we all know that doing anything quickly at any kind of SL event is next to impossible, but I digress…

Tya Fallingbridge of Pixel Mode, not only created the four-sim Shoe Fair build (it is clean, simple and gorgeous, by the way) she also created Fae, the summery wrapped wedge I’m wearing here. I love the PM HUD that is included for matching skin tone and selecting nail colors as it is very easy to use. And there is a notecard included with RGB values for most skin brands, so getting the right tone is a snap! Each pair includes both light and dark wood options on the wedge heel and bead detail.

This May 14 – 27 will mark the 4th annual Shoe Fair in Second Life, where over 50 vendors will be displaying their latest footwear trends with partial proceeds to benefit Soles4Souls (soles4souls.org), a charitable organization that collects shoes and distributes them to people in need all over the world.

Last year, your support and participation led to L$1Million raised for Soles4Souls. This year, organizers hope that your contributions will enable the event to match or exceed the L$1Million mark, allowing people and communities in over 125 countries (including the Pakistan, Haiti, Nepal, Kenya, and Thailand) to gain access to much-needed footwear.

Under My Skin

One of the most intriguing parts of SL is the ability to express our individuality in the way we dress our avatars. We can change hair color, eye color, clothing style on a whim depending on our mood or the persona we wish to portray. But for most of us our shape and skin selections are very personal.

Curio May in Sundust, Exodi Sylvan in Cafe, Glam Affair Layla in MedTan, all on my personal shape.

I fully admit to being a skin whore and as much as I love collecting skin from all over the grid, there are a few brands I always come back to. They just feel like “me”. And my shape, well, apart some tweaking here and there, it’s the same since my first month in-world.

It is the combination of skin and shape that gives avatars their “it” factor. Which is why I love the Skin & Shape Expo taking place now through May 20, 2011. Skinners and shape makers from all over the grid gathered together to display all of their newest creations. I picked up three skins, one from my beloved Exodi, one from tried & true Curio, and one from a new favorite, Glam Affair. I’ve paired them with shapes from two Expo participants, Savior Faire and Amacci. I’ve lined them up so you can see how the shapes and skins work together to create four distinct personalities.

mon tissu

Mon tissu, translated from French, means “my fabric.” And in their individual brands, Elie Spot and Anouk Spot (Emma Gilmour of Surf Co. and Juliette Westerburg of Tres Blah, respectively) have demonstrated their mastery of the Second Life fabric. This new partnership, which opened to much fanfare last Saturday, features designs that are expertly textured and meticulously designed. The pieces are classic basics with a decidedly feminine flair.

You’ll find mon tissu nestled in a small French Village on the Lula sim, along with Tres Blah, Lamb and Turnip’s.

Shoe Fair Finds Day 2 – Periquita

I love shoes from Periquita, they always have a touch of whimsy. And what is Shoe Fair if not a chance to buy whimsical footwear for a good cause, right?

The Silly Wedges take the simple wedge that is so on-trend for this season and curves the heel, carves it out and fills it with beads. And, like all shoes from Periquita, they are ridiculously well priced and have a color change HUD. You can change both the texture (lots of colors, both striped and solids) and the bead color…or you can take the beads out altogether. The possibilities are endless!

Surfside Solitude

I often refer to Plurk as “the news”. As in, “Sorry I was AFK, I had to read the news.” I can always count on my plurk friends to keep me abreast of new releases, great locations for taking photos and can’t-miss sales. This post is testament to that.

Katey Coppola plurked this morning to remind us that the HUGE sale at Nayar ends June 1st. You might choose to pick up one of these adorable Katey Kinis. I’m sort of partial to red, so the Ladybug version is my favorite. For the sunglasses, I turned to Strawberry Singh, who had recently plurked her post about Mojoti Eyewear. These are really well made and there are a ton of options! So, bikini? Check. Sunglasses? Check. Now, where to shoot? I plurked a request for beachy sims and Myndi Meredith suggested Sol Mananero. And WOW! What a gorgeous setting. You can expect to see lots of beachy photos from me for a while, I plan to camp here for the summer.
