A Hairy Situation

Hair Fair is almost here! Are you ready? I’m not! I have a little inventory clean up to get through first. (Check out these tutorials from Anya Ohmai if you need some inventory organization pointers).

Some of you may be skin collectors. Or maybe your virtual closet is overflowing with shoes. Me? I’m a hair hoarder. Blonde, brunette, ginger. Updos, pigtails, long hair, short hair…it doesn’t matter. I love it all. With Hair Fair 2011 just around the corner, I’m spending my in-world time sorting, editing and packing away some older styles to make room for all of the fantastic new coifs created by the uber-talented designers participating in this two-week event benefiting Wigs for Kids. So, for the next few evenings, my Second Life looks something like this:

I did make sure to join the demo group, though. Hair Fair designers will start sending out demo wigs on July 1, so you can try them on and pick out your favorites in the comfort of your own home. Or get together with some of your friends and have a demo party! The entire Hair Fair committee has worked really hard to make this an extraordinary event, and I know you won’t be disappointed. Maylee Oh’s latest release at The Secret Store is full of fun, flirty and undeniably girly goodies. Circle skirts, gloves, cardigans, high-waist pants and tanks in super summery, bright colors and patterns. I couldn’t resist buying the entire collection. 2011 Shoe Fair: LeLutka

The 2011 Shoe Fair is in full swing and there are hundreds of fantastic new styles to be had. I am, however, in a wedge mood of late so these new beauties from LeLutka caught my eye.

I love all the little details, like the tab on the side and the zipper detailing at the back and, as Gogo points out in her blog, the slightly distressed sole. These are the little things that bring SL fashions to life and add just the right amount of realism…

On the opposite end of the reality spectrum, the new Bloom dolls by Emma Gilmour of Surf Co. have made a huge splash! With their over-sized heads and tiny puckered lips, they are just too adorable for words and, for me, add just the touch of whimsy my Second Life has been lacking recently. Expect to see more of Gooby Bloom, as Turnip has renamed her, because I am having the best time dressing her up. Be sure to check out the Bloom Flickr Group and enter the Bloom Photo Contest!

Don’t Rain On My Parade

I’m fully aware this hair is probably the most blogged item on the feeds today, but I don’t care! As it is raining buckets in the world outside my window, my hair would probably look like a less-chic version of the new Rykiel style from LeLutka if I were to release it from its elastic.

When I was putting this look together though, I really wanted to show off the Parade necklace from MOOD. You can find it at the mainstore this weekend as part of Project Themeory. There is also a ring (which I LOVE!) available as part of the ensemble. Be sure to pick it up before it is gone…though, personally, I’ll be begging Jori to release more colors because I adore the chunky, bold pearls!

52 WoC Challenge + Newness from Exodi & MichaMi

I’ve been wearing a prototype of the new Sylvan skin from Exodi for months, so I can’t tell you how happy I am that Ryker finally released it! I love the eyebrows because they are so full and lush. As with all of the Exodi skins, there are loads of options to choose from…cleavage, no cleavage, freckles, even red brows for the gingers!

And finally, Milla Michinaga, whom I’ve mentioned before is my favorite fashionista/blogger cum designer, has released a new leather dress. It is beautifully textured and the tailoring is simple, classic and easy to wear. And, the Nude version of the dress works well for the ecru edition of the 52 Weeks of Color Challenge…double win!
