Some people may choose to ring in the new year, but I prefer to Rock!
The Rebel, Rebel collection from 5th & Oxford features two t-shirts and a halter, each in five colors and a denim mini with prim skirt and sculpted belt in four colors. There is also a coordinating home furnishings collection with wall and floor textures, two record mobiles and a sofa in two colors. As usual, Roslin Petion and CJ Carnot haven’t left a single detail to chance in creating these items. One of my New Year’s resolutions is to rebuild my home on Night Flower and you can be sure that I will find a place for all of these pieces!

caLLie cLine is ready for the holidays and her Winter Magic build on the Stereo Vogue sim is proof.
Codie and I explored the sim, and all of its glittery goodness, over the weekend and it really is gorgeous. What’s more, it is filled with snowy plants, trees, gems, candy canes and stockings that you can purchase to decorate your own winter wonderland. Pieces are as low as L$25 each and are infused with Callie’s usual whimsical style.
My favorite items, so far, are the Happy Head Antlers. They are available in three styles, each with color change gemstones. I particularly love the style I am wearing here as it is all decked out with candy canes and stockings. You can find all three at the caLLie cLine mainstore, as well as at Winter Magic.
Be sure to visit Winter Magic and catch some holiday spirit of your own!
I don’t get a chance to watch a lot of television, but Tabatha’s Salon Takeover is a weekly must-see! In last week’s episode, she referred to one of the stylists as a “disco ball” when she showed up dressed all in gaudily sparkling silver. I’ve not been able to get that look out of my head, so I chose to use it as inspiration for today’s look of the day.

I need to start with a confession. I am addicted to gadgets. Any kind of gadget really, I love them all. I’m most fond, however, of those that make my Second Life easier. That’s where MechanizedLife comes in. The FilterCam HUD makes taking stylized, in-world snapshots, well, a snap!
I only have to wear the HUD, mark the “Show HUD Objects in Snapshot” option in the snapshot window, select my filter and presto chango! I’ve added artistic detailing to my photo without ever opening an outside photo-editing program. There are dozens and dozens of preset, menu-driven filters to choose from, including the NEW Halloween-themed filters designed by the uber-talented Ryker Beck. In fact, ALL of the filters were designed by the Ryker.
In addition to the preset filters and masks that come ready-to-use in the FilterCam HUD, it is fully customizable. You can create your own filters, add glow and other effects and even, when using a Restrained Life-compatible viewer, attach windlight settings to your presets. You can find all of the information you’ll ever need to know about customizing FilterCam on the MechanizedLife website and Ryker even created a tutorial for making your own filters. And the BEST PART…From now through Halloween, Codie has dropped the price of FilterCam to only L$500! Find it in-world or on xstreetsl.
While I was snapping away with the new Halloween filters, I decided to try out the new goodies from LuNi Designs. Nimil Blackflag and Lucas Gerard were kind enough to send over some review copies of their latest designs. I love the Wicked outfit, complete with witchy-green skin, which is inspired by the character Elphaba from the musical and book, Wicked.
For the Bloody Hands filter, I had to choose the Blight skin and La Ultima Fiesta dress. I’m a part-time zombie so the bloody, undead skin really appeals to me. And the tone-on-tone striping is spot on. The little bit of flounce at the bodice and the lace at the hem give an almost sweet feel to an otherwise ghoulish ensemble.
Lucas and Nimil have also created a line of Day of the Dead skins, Muerto and Muerta that are fashioned after the traditional and elaborate face painting that accompanies many Day of the Dead celebrations, and inspired by the paintings of Sylvia Ji. Here, I’m wearing Half the Sugar.
A quick, but important, note: Both Wicked and the Muerto and Muerta skins will only be available through Halloween, so hurry to LuNi Designs to purchase them before the weekend is out.
So, there you have it. A fantastic gadget from MechanizedLife to give all of your in-world snapshots a little extra oompf and some spooky-good new stuff from LuNi Designs. Happy Halloween!

Disclaimer: For the sake of full disclosure, I should to point out that MechanizedLife is owned by my partner CodeBastard Redgrave. That said, I would still think this gadget is remarkably useful and a must-have for any SL photographer regardless its creator.
This should actually be dated 08.15.09, because I’ve been wearing it…changing out pieces and parts here and there…since I picked up the dress and poses during last week’s 50L Friday. I have a few pieces from Whippet & Buck, but this dress caught my eye almost as soon as I rezzed. Penny Dreadful Arcade is one of those new-to-me pose shops that I had to rush back to, a couple of times, to pick up the entirety of their pose collection.
For this look, I chose the Art Teacher hair by Tiny Bird and the long denim shorts from CoCo to turn the W&B dress into a more casual tunic. The Tiny Dancer necklace and Freshwater Pearl earrings from Sable Rose are two pieces that I wear constantly (I <3 Rosie Barthelmess). And I am positively enamored by Balderdash’s Rosary (I may not make it to Mass as often as my mother would like, but I still find the Rosary fascinating and collect them in RL). Saiyge Lotus’ version is beautifully designed and loaded with details. To round out the look, I added bangles from Zaara and, for a touch of whimsy, the Kitty Ring from Puarangi Designs, which has a texture change script and is just adorable! Just a couple of final details. The shoes are Tesla’s latest release, Klaks Clogs in Lemon. As usual her sculpting and texture work is absolutely flawless. With each new release, Tesla Miles blows me away with her mastery of the sculpted prim. I chose glasses from primOptic. Nibb Tardis uses standard prims and feature-packed menus to create realistic and customizable designs.
That’s all for now, happy shopping!

I’ve recently become reacquainted with Moonshine. No, I haven’t taken to distilling my own liquor, but I have rediscovered my fondness for Shelly Toonie’s designs. I have an alt (shhh…don’t tell) whose inventory consists predominantly of Moonshine clothing, yet I have only a few pieces on my main account. So, I was delighted when Shelly, a relatively new friend thanks to plurk, offered me her new Fleur Smock to feature here. Read the rest of this entry »
I snagged this meme from Trinity Dechou, who found it on Kitty Lalonde’s blog, and decided to give it a shot. Here goes:
1. Who was your first prom date? Prom. I went to my first prom as a sophomore in high school. It was a huge group thing, 7 or 8 couples, I think my “official” date was a guy named Jim. He was a senior and always good for a laugh.
2. Do you still talk to your first love? Sometimes. He’s moved away, but I see his mom at the grocery store quite often and she keeps me up-to-date on his family. I think he was less my first love as my first crush, he was also a great friend and taught me to drive a car with manual transmission.
3. What was your first alcoholic drink? I’m guessing it was beer. My grandpa drank Miller High Life and I remember he would let us kids steal a sip on occasion.
4. What was your first job? I made shaved ice snow cones at a Tropical Sno. It was easy money and I got to visit with my friends who hung around there incessantly. It didn’t last long, though, as that same summer I started working at a summer camp.
5. What was your first car? A 1983 Honda Accord. The car had 170,000 miles on it when it was handed down from my mom, and 200,000 miles on it when I totalled it…and it still ran like it was brand new. Gawd, I miss that car.
6. Who was the first person to text you today? My mom. Telling me what time we will be leaving this afternoon.
7. Who is the first person you thought of this morning? I’ll give you one guess. Think red.
8. Who was your first grade teacher? Mrs. White. I still have the hand-painted Christmas ornament she made for each of us.
9. Where did you go on your first ride on an airplane? When I was 6, I flew to Lansing, Michigan to spend a week with my mom’s cousin and her kids. I remember making mud pies in the field behind their house.
10. Who was your first best friend and do you still talk? Emilee was my best friend for as long as I can remember. In my scrapbook, there are pictures of our first play date. We were two. Sadly, Em passed away from a terminal illness at the age of 27. I miss her everyday.
11. Where was your first sleep over? My first sleep over was at Christy’s house. 14 girls, pizza, brownies and coke. We fought over who got to play Ms. PacMan on the Atari and then tried to scare each other running through the woods in the middle of the night.
12. Who was the first person you talked/will talk to today? Online: my plurk friends and later, Codie, when she wakes up. In RL, my annoying office-mate, unless I can find a way to avoid it.
13. Whose wedding were you in the first time? When I was three, I was the flower girl in my aunt Jackie’s wedding. I had a pretty white basket with trailing ribbons filled with rose petals. I just remember how pretty my mom looked, as a bridesmaid, with her floppy sun hat. I don’t think I made it long past the ceremony, though. In most of the pictures, I’m zonked out on my grandpa’s shoulder.
14. What was the first thing you did this morning/first thing you will do when you log in? The first thing I did was turn off the 3 alarms screaming at me and gulped down a bottle of water. I’m always so thirsty when I wake up. Since I probably won’t get to log in until late Thursday night or Friday, I’m guessing I’ll be clearing the dozens of notecards, group notices and IMs that have come through.
15. What was the first concert you ever went to? That’s actually a tough one. Growing up, my mom worked a lot, so I spent quite a bit of time with my aunt and uncle. Uncle Roger loves live music, so they were constantly dragging me to see various local bands. The first concert I remember, though, would be Bon Jovi. My girlfriends surprised me with tickets for my birthday. I was so mad at them for getting tickets without me and at my mom for telling me I couldn’t go…I didn’t know they were all in cahoots together until Shelly picked me up.
16. What was your first record/tape? Wow. I really don’t know. I remember spending hours driving around in Leslee’s convertible listening to Samantha Fox. Wow. My stepdad had a huge record collection, though, and I spent many afternoons on my stage (AKA the fireplace) belting out Bonnie Tyler’s Total Eclipse of the Heart into my microphone (AKA the fireplace poker) while wearing some glitzy costume from my dance recital days.
17. First hospitalization? I grew up in hospitals, sometimes with broken bones, cuts and bruises, sometimes just hanging out while my parents worked or were at meetings (I learned to roller skate in the hallway between the ER and the lab). My first real hospitalization was in 2000 when I had my gallbladder removed.
18. First foreign country you’ve been to? Canada. When I was 8 we visited my aunt in Detroit and drove into Canada for a picnic.
19. First movie you remember seeing? ET
20. When was your first detention? 5th grade. For talking in class. And a second that same day for passing notes. Obviously, I had something to say.
21. Where did you first meet your spouse/partner now? Second Life via Twitter.
22. Who was your first roommate? A really cool art major named Becky, who later became a religious freak and held prayer circles in our room. Our living arrangement came to a quick end when I woke to find her and her friends praying over me while I slept.
23. What did you do with your first paycheck? Bought a cute purse and some sunglasses. Priorities.
Right. So, I think that’s about it. Who’s next?
Showtime’s Nurse Jackie is my latest obsession, mostly because I think Edie Falco is at her best when she plays people who are fundamentally good, but deeply flawed. But, I digress. Tonight, my RL avatar is running around crazy packing and getting ready for my trip to Montreal. But, I sat down at my computer long enough to check email and in my offlines I found a notice from Katat0nik Pidgeon. In tribute to RL artist Trevor Brown, there is a new build installation at Hotel Dare and a new Nursie outfit from Katat0nik. In light of my new obsession, as soon as I saw the word “Nursie,” I couldn’t log in fast enough.

I had planned to feature several outfits by Apple May Designs, but this week has been crazily hectic. I had never heard of AMD before inspecting the gorgeous red skirt that Jori Watler was wearing while out dancing one night. (Sidebar: I really hope these anti-inspect invisiprim things don’t catch on. Inspect is my best friend?) Judging by the size of the store, the quality of the designs and the number of people shopping, I’m a litle slow on the uptake. Apple May has a fantastic selection of clothing from lingerie to formal wear, but it was her casual wear selection that really caught my eye. It is vast! And there doesn’t appear to be anyting over L$300. In fact, most of the outfits I purchased (yes, I went on a bit of a frenzy) were less than L$200.
This outfit is Phoebe. It comes with tweed shorts with sculpted cuffs and pockets, a sculpted scarf and two shirt options, solid and sheer. Many AMD pieces are provided on multiple layers for easy mixing and matching. I decided to put together a look I might wear out while shopping or running errands. Be sure to stop into AMD and load up on some great looks!
Oh, and that great skirt I stole from Jori, its part of the Subtle outfit. I positively adore it! And it comes with the jewelry!
