Today’s Topic: Write about three positive things going on in your Second Life.
I started thinking about this topic earlier today when I first saw the topic. At that time, my RL Monday was disintegrating into a jumbled, craptastic mess and I was finding it hard to see anything positive in either life. I opened my email to check for offlines and smiled at some sweet messages from a few friends. I wandered through plurk and found myself chuckling at bits of randomness. And then, I had coffee. Amazing how a little caffeine can improve my mood.
Sitting here, writing this, I realize that there are several really positive things going on in my Second Life right now. But, as the topic limits me to three; three is all you get.
First, I love the work I do in Second Life. I’m not particularly creative. I can’t build or make clothes. I couldn’t script my way out of a plywood prim and texturing? Yeah, no. But, I am very fortunate to work with people who can do all of those things. And they do them very, very well. I do PR work for two brands, :. WoE .: by Dick Wiesel and :: Exodi :: by Ryker Beck. Apart from getting to spend time chatting with Dick & Ryker, the work keeps me from getting into too much trouble and I feel like my ideas are actually heard.
Next, I am a Senior Staff Writer for Second Style Magazine. While technically this may fall under the “work” category, between Second Style and my blog, I get to explore what little bits of creativity I DO have and I really enjoy the challenge of working within a theme. Not to mention the fact that creating a monthly piece that centers on accessories satisfies my cravings for shiny baubles.
Finally, I have a great partner (even if she is a bit obsessed by turtles), and some fantastic and wildly talented friends who make sure that I laugh everyday. These are the people with whom I don’t feel the need to filter myself. Whether they like it or not, they get whatever is on my mind at any given moment. Thankfully, they haven’t grown tired of me yet. These are also the people who know they can count on me to be there for them. It is a good feeling to be able to place my trust in another and know that trust is reciprocated. Anyway, there is a lot of love there. What could be better than that?
Next Monday, I’ll celebrate my third rez day and after three years I can honestly say that my Second Life just continues to get better and better each and every day.
And, what do you know? This topic has really made me focus on the positive things in both of my lives and suddenly, the craptastic start to my day seems like a distant memory.
