Adam Soler opened Lookr in 2007 and his designs ranged from formal to casual and everything in between. Fayne Khandr joined the label in 2008 and their success as designers and content creators continued. Somewhere along the way, their real life work experience led them to the decision to change directions a bit. As mentioned in the notecard received from Fayne over the weekend, they decided it was better to excel at one thing than to be “quite good” at many. Behold the new Lookr.
From this point forward, Adam and Fayne will showcase their talents by focusing on male and female tees and tops, which will feature their own artwork. Their designs are interesting, witty and stylish. No crude slogans here. But you will find a bit of sass combined with urban art and, in my never-to-be-humble opinion, even the fussiest fashionista/o will be hard pressed to walk out without snatching up everything in the store.
But, wait! That’s not all! With the reopening of Lookr, Fayne and Adam will be donating 15% of their sales to charity. They’ve chosen to support the A21 Campaign, an organization dedicated to the abolishment of human trafficking. After reading the information on the A21 website, and finding myself appalled by the atrocities and broad reach of this issue, I implore you to do whatever you can to support their efforts.
And, still, there’s more. Lookr has also set up an online store, where you can purchase their designs for both your second life AND your first life avatar. According to Fayne, the tops are high quality, comfortable, and wash very well!
Yes, there’s even MORE! Each shirt that you buy for your avatar is available in two layering configurations, a complete jacket or a shirt/underpant (where appropriate) layer combo. So, you get 2 shirts for L$100 (no, that’s not a typo, all shirts are priced at L$100) . AND you will also receive a gift wrapped copy of your purchase for gifting to a friend or your alt erm, other friend. If we do the math, that’s FOUR shirts for L$100 and you’re contributing to a worthy cause. Guilt-free shopping at its finest, no?
After the jump, you’ll find some Lookr Q&A provided by Adam and Fayne, and my style notes. And I want you to read that part too, I really do, but first, I want you to RUN to Lookr and buy out the store! Oh, and check out my new hair, it’s from Aemilia Case’s new brand, Fusemelon! Hit her up in-world, also, k?
Q&As
Q. Why have you decided to donate 15% to charity?
A. We support a charity called the A21 Campaign, which is dedicated to abolishing human trafficking in the 21st Century. A21 is in constant need of funds to provide for those victims they manage to save, and Lookr’s donations will go directly towards helping the women and children who are directly affected.
Q. Could the figure be higher?
A. 15% is a substancial figure: the money adds up quickly. The actual percentage works out much higher to us as a business, as it’s 15% of all sales (ie. before tier, upload fees and other expenses are deducted). Due to British tax regulations to international charities, we also need to cover the tax ourselves, so these donations have an additional cost to Lookr.
Relating only to virtual products:
Q. What permissions do Lookr clothes have?
A. All items are modify/transfer/no copy. As we donate 15% of sales to charity, we do not offer refunds or exchanges on purchases. Please be sure of your selection before you buy, and turn off busy mode when shopping.
Q. How much do Lookr clothes cost?
A. All of our tops cost L$100. Because you get a duplicate of your purchase, you’re really only paying L$50 for each one.
Q. You get a duplicate of your purchase?
A. You will actually get two identical sets with each purchase: one set for you and one giftwrapped to give to a friend (or your alt if you’re so inclined!). All of our clothing comes on jacket, shirt and underpants layers (where appropriate) for layering, so in effect you’re getting four tops for L$100L.

Yesh!!!! These tees are so cool and realistic looking! I love printed tees but most of the SL stuff is horrible, especially the “cute slogan” tees.
Great Tip! ^__^

Miaa and I stopped by last night! Wow! Sooo many cool tees and the gift idea is so great I might try it myself!
I’m so glad you like the hoops! Please stop by the shop and let me know if there is anything else you would like. It would be my pleasure to drop them on you!!! ^___^
Thanks, Fayne! So glad you like the post…it’s easy to rave when working with such a fantastic brand, idea and product! Much luck to you and Adam!
